On April 2nd volunteers from Federated church participated in the Hunger Research Network Community Outreach Day in Northbrook Illinois. 125,000 pounds of chicken was unloaded from three semi trucks. It will be distributed to around 100 local charitable organizations who distribute food to people in need.

Hello, Federated Church! A SINCERE THANK YOU for Braving the Elements and Answering the Call to Serve! We can’t thank you enough for your individual and group efforts in making our 8th Community Outreach Day the best one yet!!! We recognize and appreciate that you came out very early in the morning and worked though the cold weather and challenging snow to help us achieve our goal! Together we moved 125,000 pounds of frozen chicken out of 3 refrigerated semi-trucks and into our neighborhoods, by way of 102 agencies, all in less than an hour and a half! We sincerely appreciate your hard work and look forward to staying connected to seek your help in furthering our mission. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer in any other way this year by going to our website and letting us know how you’d like to assist. And for those of you who have not had a chance to take a look at some of the photos from the event, please go to the Hunger Resource Network on Facebook and LIKE us! With gratitude, Cindy Schofield and Henry Fetta, HRN Volunteer Coordinators.
