The Outreach Commission’s mission is to reach out to the community and enrich lives through Christ.
Outreach is involved with many missions and charity organizations. We also work with all of the committees within the church and support them in their missions and projects.
Outreach within our community is important to our church. We provide meeting space for groups such as Cub Scouts, senior exercise program, AA, Al-Anon, and TOPS. Federated Church supports our local Wauconda Food Pantry, the Hunger Resource Network, and the Wauconda Health Care and Rehabilitation Centre, as well as Disaster Relief projects worldwide. We also participate in Adopt-a-road (a section along Route 176 Liberty Street), and are very active in many community outreach programs.
We also support PADS, Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, Relay for Life (the fight against cancer), the Hunger Resource Network, the Barrington Area CROP Walk (world hunger), Home of the Sparrow, Safe Haven, GiGi’s Place House, and many other Christian organizations.
Our church participates in the Wauconda Business EXPO in Feb and Memorial Day Parade in May. Memorial Day Parade is a tradition dating back to just after World War I, starting in 1919.
In summer we host Vacation Bible School, in the fall we hold a huge Rummage Sale, and in December we have our famous Christmas Bazaar which raises money to fund several of our charities.
Outreach supports education. Every year Outreach sets goals to improve on our commitment to help obtain school supplies for Wauconda area schools.
Federated Church supports the Build-a-Bed project that provides children with a decent place to sleep at night. One of our passions is supporting children in need.
Our pastor is involved in the community events and with Wauconda Care Centre, providing a monthly worship service for residents.
Christmas is our favorite time of the year. With FOCW we have provided the Gift of Giving to a group of ladies at Safe Haven and LOVE INC. We make Christmas special to many families in need and their children.
The essence of Outreach is children first, reaching out to the community and making a difference one person, one child at a time. We hope to touch and enrich lives through Christ. This is the Federated Church and Outreach.
