NEW EMAIL FOR STAFF PARISH COMMITTEE – Do you have a question, concern, or words of encouragement regarding a member of the church staff? Reach everyone on the committee at once by emailing federatedstaffparish@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

DONATIONS NEEDED – Support the Island Lake, Wauconda Food Pantry and feed families in need.  There is a collection basket near the coat racks. They are specifically requesting plastic bags for carrying, high protein canned goods, and fruit. Find a list of other needed items here: Food Pantry Donation List. The first Sunday of every month starting October 7 will be Food Pantry SundayWe will be collecting non-perishable items for the Wauconda Food Pantry.  Please bring non-perishable items and place them in the basket by the entry doors.  Thank you for helping those in need.

THANKSGIVING MUSIC SUNDAY – Nov. 18. On this Sunday we will make joyful noises in our worship service. God has blessed us and given us many things in our lives. There will be a time for us to give our God thanks and praise! We invite all of you to write a “thank you” note to God, and bring it with you to that service to share. Join us for a morning worship and thanksgiving. Let your music gifts be used for praising God! Those who love to sing, or play the music, please do so to glorify God. Pastor Fred will do the children’s sermon.

HANGING OF THE GREENS CELEBRATION – Nov. 25. On this Sunday we will explore the meaning of the greens, the Christmas tree, Christmas wreath, poinsettias and include singing Christmas carols. Let us have a hopeful Advent season! After worship we will host our annual Hanging of the Greens party starting at 11:00 AM. Everyone is invited to help decorate. We will be ordering pizzas, so please bring a few dollars to help cover the cost.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR – Dec. 1. Here are some ways you can help with the Christmas Bazaar:

bake cookies for the Cookie Walk; volunteer to work the day of the Bazaar; make crafts to sell at the Bazaar; donate accessories for the Glamorama Boutique; donate Christmas items for Grandma’s Attic; bake special treats for the Baked Goods table.

 “180” MEMORY BOOKS and DVDs – On sale now. FOCW still has available a few of our new Memory Books containing historical information and wonderful stories from members of our congregation. We also have DVDs with copies of the 300 pictures which were part of the slideshow from Saturday. Memory Book $10; DVD $3 – proceeds will go to support the local Food Pantry. If you would like to purchase either, see Sylvia Chen.

CHOIR REHEARSAL BEGINS – Our choir practice begins at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4. We welcome anyone who loves to sing. If you are interested in joining our choir, please see Geri Meyer.

TEACHERS NEEDED – The Sunday School Ministry is looking to recruit Sunday School Teachers join the team and begin teaching classes  January 2019-May 2019 (once each month).  This will allow teachers who have taught for several years to experience Sunday worship service on a regular bases.  If you are interested please see Nancy Swanson or Pastor Crystal Calhoun-Johnson.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – We are in need of people to volunteer to be a greeter before the worship service. Anyone interested in sharing a smile, a hug, a handshake or just making someone feel welcome, contact Mary Taylor. Become a greeter at Federated and make a difference!

COFFEE FELLOWSHIP HOST NEEDED – Please consider signing up to be the coffee fellowship host for a week or two. There is a sign-up sheet on the table by the window.

PRAYER MEETING – We have added more prayer meeting times for those of you who cannot come in the evening.  In addition to our 7:00 PM meetings on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of the month, we will meet in the Sanctuary every Thursday morning at 10:00 AM.  Our prayer meetings are a time to gather with other believers to lift our needs and our praises to God.
