UNICEF boxes available October 1st
As the leaves begin to turn and Halloween stores appear on every corner, parents and the young-at-heart prepare costumes and candy for an evening of trick or treating in their local communities. For more than 50 years, many have carried a companion to orange plastic pumpkins and old pillowcases, a UNICEF collection box.
Founded in 1946, UNICEF has always put children first, helping to save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. Since then, children all over America have gone door-to-door on Halloween with collection boxes, calling out, “Trick or Treat for UNICEF!” They have helped to raise more than $175 million for the U.S. fund since 1950. UNICEF cares about making the world better for kids.
While Trick or Treat for UNICEF began with participating children, our boxes will be available for everyone to pick up October 1st. Whether you take it trick or treating or just put your loose change in it everyday, you will be helping provide medicine, nutrition, clean water, emergency relief and education to children worldwide.
Our church’s goal is for 75 people to raise at least $1,000.
The U.S. Fund meets Charity Navigator’s highest ratings for transparency, accountability and administration. Out of every dollar spent, 90 CENTS goes toward helping children. The remaining pennies are spent on fundraising costs (7 cents) and administration (3 cents).
Let’s all pick up a box and clean out our couch cushions for this wonderful tradition!
