Good Friday Service

  • Federated Church of Wauconda 200 Barrington Road Wauconda, IL, 60084 (map)

The Good Friday Service provides an opportunity to reflect on the suffering of Jesus and the price he paid for us. You can’t have the resurrection without the crucifixion.

This year, our worship is designed to help us to walk with Jesus to the way of the Cross. It is based on the Stations of the Cross - a devotion developed in the Middle Ages by the Franciscans as a way of allowing people who could not travel to the Holy Land to walk where Christ walked on the day of his passion.  By the end of the 17th century, many churches had stations, or stops, arranged at intervals along their walls - each with a cross and, under that cross, a representation of an event in the passion narrative.  Nine of the fourteen stations are taken directly from scripture; the other five come from the earliest traditions of the church.

The most important Good Friday symbol is the crucifix, or cross, which represents Jesus’ death.

Join us for a Good Friday service. It will be a meaningful service for all of us. Don’t miss it!
