CALENDAR

LIFE OCCASIONS

Life occasions are all celebrated in our church.

Baptism is available for any person of any age who has not been baptized before.  The participant may choose between sprinkling, pouring, or immersion. There is a 1/2 hour conversation with the pastor before the sacrament is performed.

Confirmation classes are usually held every other year for junior high and high school students who wish to explore, expand and confess their faith as they prepare to become responsible members of the church.  Currently, we have the confirmation class and will finish by this May 2023. If you wish to take the class, please contact the church office at 847-526-8471 in the fall of 2025.

New Members are typically accepted in a ceremony that occurs about three times per year.  Prospective members are expected to attend one meeting to meet other prospective members, learn about the church and the expectations of membership, and ask questions.  We have classes quarterly. Please contact the office at 847-526-8471 if you want to know about the new membership class.

Weddings: Our church believes that the rites of weddings should be available to all.  Membership in the Federated Church of Wauconda is not a requirement, however, several premarital classes with the pastor are required.

Funerals:  Our church believes that the rites of funerals should also be available to all.  Membership in the Federated Church of Wauconda is not a requirement.  The pastor likes to sit down with the family to discuss the best way to celebrate a loved one’s life.

CHURCH ORGANIZATION

Below is a brief description of each of the Federated Church of Wauconda’s Committees.

The Federated Board oversees all of the Committees.  Each Committee has a voting representative on the Board which meets to share information, approve projects that cost more than $500, make major decisions concerning church life, and make plans for the future.

COMMITTEES

The Trustees are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the church building and grounds. They meet monthly to discuss and approve projects, and to discern the progress of said projects.  All changes in the building and grounds come before the Trustees for approval.

The Staff Parish is responsible for the relationship between the church and its staff.  It is the “hiring and firing” group as well as the one which monitors job performance.  All comments and questions about job performance of the staff should be brought before this group.

Education is in charge of all aspects of education at our church.

Outreach (Mission) is in charge of overseeing our church’s activities in reaching out to those in need – in our town, our community, our world. It meets monthly to plan and discuss our involvements in the community and needs of comminuty.

Congregational Care is our newest committee that coordinate the ministries of caring for members of the Federated Church family. The Committee’s primary focus is ministering to the individual & families’ needs of those in the congregation. This team is a group of volunteers working together to offer practical, emotional, and spiritual support to those in need.  Prayer Chains, Card Ministry, Car Ministry, Stephen Ministry…

Worship committee has the task of making our worship services enjoyable and interesting as we praise God.  It meets monthly to plan our services and discuss ideas for the next few months.  New suggestions that would enhance our worship services are always welcome.

Finance committee oversees the financial picture of the church.  It meets, as needed, to discuss the budget, needs from the endowment, and any other monetary matters.

Endowment committee has the responsibility of monitoring the Endowment Fund investments and deciding how to use the interest generates.

Memorial Committee manages monies donated by families who have lost loved ones.  These funds are collected and held until special items are needed in the church.  At that time the committee meets to decide what should be purchased and whose memorial funds will be used to meet that specific need.

Nominating committee has the responsibility to staff each of our committees and commissions.  Great effort is made to match gifts, talents and passions between the person and the activities to be accomplished by each team.

FOLLOWSHIP GROUP

F.O.C.W. (Fellowship of Christian Women) is a very ambitious group of dedicated women which extends an invitation to all the women of the church to join them in a variety of activities to benefit our church and community.
